I Will Miss You, Bye Bye

Hello everybody, I hope you are all healthy and fine. Today I'm writing my final post because our course has come to an end. It was such an experience for me...

After taking this course and start writing this blog, I realized that writing something is very restful for me. Especially, nowadays, when all of us at our homes, dealing with many problems, trying to be patient, It made me feel peaceful and happy.

Moreover, I learned many things. I learned how to use Canva which is very useful for everything. I learned how to use wikis, how to make a digital story. I used many tools that must be integrated into English classes. For example, I will definitely use word clouds in my classes. It supports visual learning. Also, I will certainly use infographics because they can grab attention easily. And of course podcats and digital storytelling. They are crucial for improving pronunciation.

My favorite one was creating a poster for the book we reviewed. I really enjoyed it because I imagine everything on it. I found the cast, whichever actor/actress I want. I even wrote the scenario!! To be honest, my least favorite was digital storytelling because It was very hard for me to unite the sound and the video. I couldn't decide which program I should use then I couldn't use the one I chose :D

At the end of the day, I'm so happy because, in the following years, I have something about my university life, my twenties! Besides, It is about using technology in my classes! I appreciate my teacher Gökçe, thanks for all the tools, techniques, your good suggestions...

Stay tuned, maybe one day I continue to write here...

Digital Storytelling: An Apple Pie Recipe

This week's task was creating a digital story! Since it is a little bit long rather than our other tasks. So we did it my dear friend Sena (I miss her).

First of all, we started with choosing our topic. We wanted to give a good desert recipe; Apple pie. After that, we shared the tasks. Sena chose to make the video and I chose to write a script and record the audio. It wasn't easy to render the video and the audio and snycronize them
but I overcome it!!!

Digital storytelling is a very good project for improving student's writing and pronunciatoin activity because before you start the video step, you need to prepare a written script. After doing that, you need to look at the pronunciation of all the words and read it aloud more than two times. As far as I see, It can apply to student with medium or high English level students.

It was very funny working with a partner! We shared ideas with each other and also we tried to use some different tools.

An Infographic: Turkey's Online Education

Our new task was creating an infographic. As you can predict from its name, it gives information about something. It is an attention grabbing poster. It can be used during presentations, lessons, wherever you want. I did it on Canva as I mentioned before. I use it for every purpose. It is too easy and it is free!

My infographic was about Turkey's online education history and what should you do to be successful at school. For the education part, I did some research and for the suggestions part, I use my own experiences. I hope you like it.

Leyla's Home: A Tale of Love and Rebellion..

Hello everyone! You won't believe what I just did. I created a poster!!!

This week's homework is creating a film poster. And the film is an adaptation of Zülfü Livaneli's book (which I posted its review last week). I love this book because it touches on many points. It includes love, passion, the difference between cultures, conflict of generations, and more... For the characters, I choose Meral Çetinkaya for Leyla, Çetin Tekindor for Ali Yekta, Mehmet Günsür for Yusuf, and Berrak Tüzünataç for Rukiye.

I used Canva. It is a very good and accessible website. You can click here to visit the website. You can sign in with your Google account. It has many good writing styles. It is very easy to use. I recommend it for making a poster, cv, presentation.

I will definitely use it in my future classes. I can ask my students to do a poster for their presentation. You can see my poster below:

A New Tool: Padlet!

Hello everybody, Did you miss me? I've missed you so much. I hope every single of you, who is reading this post, is healthy! Today, we will talk about a new technique. Maybe this is not new for some of you. Padlet! This is a board on which you can write about your ideas or research. We were supposed to do group work.

I was with Senanur (https://senawithane.blogspot.com), Halilcan (http://halilcancabuks.blogspot.com/), and Yasemin (yaseminpirim.blogspot.com). We chose a topic together: Coronavirus. And we should write individually, we evaluate it from different aspects. It wasn't that hard for me, I hope not for them too. First, we mentioned the things we already know and then we searched for the things we want to know. We also supported our writings with websites and images.

This was a very useful thing. Many teachers can use it in their classes. Surprisingly, it can be suitable for any age. I, personally really enjoyed doing it. Tools like that can be extremely helpful and funny for online education. If you want, you can search for more tools like padlet. For example, there are many things; canva, bubbl.us for different purposes.

You can find our padlet below:

Looking For A Book? Come Here!

When I was doing this review, the first difficulty was choosing the book. After I chose the book, I searched many things like ‘Did this book be adapted to a movie or a play?’. Moreover, I looked for its song because I’ve read another book from Livaneli, called Serenad and there was a song mentioned in the book! Eventually, I found the play. Even though I didn't like it that much, I was shocked. Because actress who is playing Leyla is just like the one I imagined while I was reading.

Many ideas came to my mind, like making a podcast of a paragraph from the book. But I couldn't decide which to do. Also, I spent a lot of time editing the page. Where should I put the photos or should I bold this word or this one?

It was a very pleasant task. After I completed mine, I looked up my friends’ pages. They were also so good and elaborate. If you want a book recommendation you can find the link below:

My First Podcast: It Is A Song!

Hello everybody, welcome, this is my first podcast on my blog and I am so excited! I recorded this podcast for my homework. It is a song for children. For those who have classes with children, making activities like that can be very helpful. In your class, you can use podcasts for improving your students' listening and speaking skills. If you choose a cartoon or a tale character, It will be so much fun. You can draw their attention easily. Maybe you can ask some questions on your podcast about the topic you want to talk about. What is more, you can give messages about social things like I did. I prefer to sing but you can tell a story or you can just talk about the lesson. It is up to you!

When I was doing that, I had many difficulties. First of all, I could not decide which way I should do. Then, I made my decision about a song but it was very hard to choose a character. Suddenly, Grinch came to my mind. When I was little, I used to watch it two times a day. I was so scared of him but still, I could not stop watching him. This film taught me things like discrimination between people and so on. After I decided to make a song about Grinch, I had a hard time finding chords. Even though, I can write the lyrics easily, finding the chords and match them was so exhausting. For the last step, recording, I used my phone and I recorded it like ten times! So here is my podcast, you can find the lyrics, chords and podcast below, and also, If you want to hear more songs from me I have a youtube channel. You can also find the link at the end of the page.

    Stay tuned!
